How Do I Know If My HVAC System Still Has Warranty?
Warranties differ depending on the manufacturer and the installation company. Some manufacturers might give you a minimum of a full year while others impose up to 10 years warranty. Check the labels of your equipment to see the manufacturer date. If your system is installed by our team, your HVAC surely came with a 10-year parts and labor warranty.
My Comfort Equipment is Making Loud, Strange Noises. Is That Bad?
While not all heaters and air conditioners come with a quiet operation feature, the noise coming from your systems should never be bothersome or considered loud. If there is a banging, popping, or squealing sound coming from your furnace or AC, this might mean a loose component or a blockage inside the unit. We recommend that you contact our Champaign heating and AC specialists right away.
How Much Do You Charge for System Inspection or Maintenance?
The cost of our precision tune-up is $139.50. We will inspect your equipment with our exclusive 24-point maintenance check. It also includes a complete cleaning and lubrication of the heating and air conditioning equipment and components.

I Hear a Popping Sound in My Ductwork Whenever I Turn My Furnace On or Off. What Is It?

There are several reasons why your ductwork is making a popping sound. The most common reason is when the metal sheet in the ducts expands to accommodate the change in air pressure. While this occurrence is not that detrimental to your system, sometimes, popping sounds from your ductwork also indicate that the duct system is undersized. If this is the case, we recommend that you contact Castle Home Comfort Heating, Cooling & Plumbing so we can analyze your ductwork system for proper design and recommend adjustments.

Do I Have to Be Concerned about the Changes in Refrigerants?
You may have heard about the phasing out of the R22 refrigerant as mandated by the Clean Air Act of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Unfortunately, you can’t just switch from R22 refrigerants to the recommended chlorine-free R410 refrigerants. The new R410 is recommended only for those replacing or getting a new AC or heat pump. So if you’re worried about your R22 refrigerant on your existing AC or heat pump, the EPA ensures that this refrigerant will still be available until 2020. After that, recycled refrigerants will also be available.
What are the Possible Reasons for a Freezing Up Air Conditioner?

There are several reasons why your air conditioner is freezing up, including:

  • Dirty air filters restricting the air flow
  • Low refrigerant caused by a leak from loose fittings, weak solder joints,
    and others
  • Dirty evaporator coil
  • Defective blower motor or relay or motor that is not running at the proper speed

Apart from changing the air filters, all these potential repairs would require the expertise of a professional technician. Get in touch with Castle Home Comfort Heating , Cooling & Plumbing so we can troubleshoot the problem and correct the issue right away.
